Pharmacy services

As recommended by the South Dakota Medicaid Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, only the following OTC products are covered.

• Non-sedating antihistamines
• Lice treatments (e.g. permethrin)
• Iron labeled as nutritional supplement for children under 2 years old and pregnant females
• Low-dose aspirin for pregnant females
• Narcan (naloxone) nasal spray
• Oral contraceptives

Covered OTC products must be ordered by a prescriber via legal prescription and OTC drugs are to be dispensed to Medicaid recipients in the same manner as legend products.
